Product Overview:
This product series is based on polyolefin elastomer (POE) as the matrix resin, with maleic anhydride (MAH) active groups introduced via melt grafting. It is a high-performance nylon toughening modifier that can be used both as a compatibilizer and as a toughening agent. It is particularly suitable for room-temperature and low-temperature toughening, reinforced toughening, and super-toughening of polyamides (PA6, PA66).
Core Value:
By adding this toughener series, ordinary PA6 can achieve – or even surpass – the low-temperature toughness and impact resistance of PA12, significantly reducing material costs and providing a cost-effective solution for low-temperature applications.
Mechanism of Action:
The polymer backbone is a flexible polyolefin elastomer, onto which maleic anhydride (MAH) reactive groups are grafted.
Elastomer part:provides super toughness through micro-crosslinking and microcrystalline domains, imparting excellent impact resistance.
Maleic anhydride groups: react readily with amine end groups of nylon via steric hindrance, hydrogen bonding, and chemical coupling, forming strong linkages with the nylon matrix.
Synergy:the elastomer toughens while the anhydride groups enhance compatibility, enabling the co-blend system to combine properties of different materials, bridging polar and non-polar components.
In glass-fiber reinforced nylon applications, the toughener also reacts with hydroxyl groups on the fiber surface, improving interfacial adhesion and simultaneously boosting both tensile strength and impact strength.
Performance Advantages:
Excellent ultra-low temperature toughening:
· Maintains outstanding impact toughness at -40°C.
· PA6 + 18% MX03 achieves notched impact strength of 23.7 kJ/m² at -40°C, with a retention rate of approx. 30% of room-temperature performance.
· Effectively resolves the industry pain points of low impact strength and brittleness of nylon under dry and low-temperature conditions.
Replace PA12 with PA6 for major cost reduction:
·With this toughener series, standard PA6 can match the low-temperature toughness and impact resistance of PA12.
· PA6 raw material costs are far lower than PA12, yielding significant overall cost savings.
· Suitable for applications that previously mandated PA12, such as pneumatic tubing and automotive components, where low-temperature performance is critical.
Multi-functional integration:
· Combines toughening + compatibilizing in one product.
·Works in PA/PE, PA/PP, and other alloy systems to improve alloy toughness.
· Compatible with glass fiber, mineral fillers, and other reinforcements for simultaneous reinforcement and toughening.
