Injection Molding Toughening Agent is a high-performance, multi-functional polymer additive developed based on maleic anhydride (MAH) grafted polyolefin elastomer. Leveraging its unique dual mechanism of "elastomer toughening" and "functional group compatibility," it not only provides exceptional toughening effects for engineering plastics (such as PA) but also serves as an efficient compatibilizer for polymer alloy systems. This series is a key additive for enhancing the comprehensive performance of nylon and its composite materials.

 

Core Mechanism:

Bridge-like Compatibility: The maleic anhydride (MAH) functional groups pendant on the molecular chains exhibit extremely high reactivity and can undergo chemical reactions with amino groups (-NH₂) or hydroxyl groups (-OH) at the terminals of polar polymers like nylon (PA), forming strong interfacial chemical bonds. This acts like a "molecular bridge" between the non-polar polyolefin elastomer and the polar nylon matrix, significantly improving the adhesion and compatibility between the two.

Elastomer Toughening: The main chain of the product is a flexible polyolefin elastomer, which uniformly disperses in the nylon matrix in the form of "micro-crosslinking" or "micro-crystals." When the material is subjected to impact, these elastomer particles effectively initiate, terminate, and absorb impact energy, thereby substantially increasing the impact strength and elongation at break of the material.

 

Performance Advantages and Features:

Exceptional Toughening Effect: It significantly enhances the toughness of PA6 and PA66, easily achieving modification targets from room temperature flexibility to low-temperature super-toughness, and markedly improving the impact resistance and toughness of the material.

Efficient Compatibilizer: It is an ideal compatibilizer for preparing polymer alloys such as PA/PE and PA/PP. By enhancing interfacial adhesion between phases, it enables the optimized combination of properties from different materials, resulting in alloy materials with excellent comprehensive performance.

Multi-functional Enhancement: In "nylon + glass fiber" reinforcement systems, the MAH functional groups can not only react with nylon but also interact with the surface of glass fibers treated with silane coupling agents, improving the interfacial bonding between nylon and glass fibers. Thus, while toughening, it further synergistically enhances the tensile strength and impact strength of the composite material.

Balanced Performance: While significantly improving toughness, it well maintains the key mechanical properties of the base resin, such as rigidity and heat resistance.

 

Typical Applications:

Super-Tough Nylon Modification: Used in the production of components requiring extremely high impact strength, such as automotive bumpers, pedals, sports equipment gears, and high-performance power tool housings.

Nylon Alloys: Used for compatibilizing and toughening PA/PE and PA/PP alloys, applied in areas requiring chemical resistance or specific processing characteristics.

Reinforced Nylon Composites: Used in glass fiber reinforced nylon (PA+GF) systems to manufacture engineering components that require both high strength and high toughness, such as engine peripheral parts, connectors, and structural frames.
